Badrinathji

Cradled in the twin mountainranges of Nar and Narayan is the holiest of
the four main shrines, Badrinath along the left bank river Alaknanda. With
the splendid Neelkanth mountains as the backdrop, it is an important destination
on the scared itinerary of every devour Hindu. Once the spot was carpeted
with 'badris' or wildberries and hence was famous as 'Badri Van'.
Bodhgaya

Bodh gaya is locatedin the central part of the state of Bihar, in the northeastern
part of India. It is the part of the great Ganges plains. It is situated
on the west of the Falgu River, which is a tributary of River Ganga (Ganges).
It is 13 km south of Gaya and 113 km south of Patna city. Theclimate of
Bodh gaya is tropical. Summers are generally hot (April-June), while winters
are cool (October-February). It experiences southwestern monsoonrains from
July until September.
Gangotri

Golden Temple,

The Golden Temple or DarbarSahib, situated in Amritsar, Punjab, is the most
sacred temple for Sikhs. It is a symbol of the magnificence and strength
of the Sikh people all over the world. In the evolution of the Darbar Sahib,
is entwined the history and ideology of Sikhism. In its architecture are
included, symbols associated with other places of worship. This is an example
of the spirit of tolerance and acceptance that the Sikh philosophy propounds.
Haridwar

Haridwar is situated in the valleys of the Shivalik mountains, wherethe
river flows from the Himalayan Mountains and slowly travels over the meadows
and joins the Bay of Bengal. Haridwar is famous for its regular festivals
Kumbha Mela and Ardhakumbha. One main attraction of Haridwar is that every
evening people light lamps and float them in the river which lights up the
dark night and makes the whole place very beautiful. Haridwar stands on
the rightside of theriver Ganges. Tourists are advised to be careful of
the frauds who can cheat them out of their money.

Kailash
Mansarovar
Mt. Kailash is claimed tobe the apex of the Hindu religious axis, is also
one of the highest mountains in Tibet at 22,022 feet. Lord Shiva resides
over here among the peacefulHimalayas. A mythological story says that Lord
Shiva once built a house for himself but gave it away to a devotee who asked
for it.
Kedarnathji
Amidst the dramaticmountainscapes of the majestic Kedarnath range stands
one of the twelve 'Jyotirlingas' of Kedar or Lord Shiva. Lying at an altitude
of 3584 mts. on the head of river Mandakini, the shrine of Kedarnath is
amongst the holiest pilgrimages for the Hindus.
Mahabalipuram
Globally renown for its shore temples, Mahabalipuramwas the second capital
of the Pallava kings of Kanchipuram. 58 kilometres from Madras on the Bay
of Bengal, this tinysea - side village of Mahabalipuram, is set in a boulder
- strewn landscape. Tourists are drawn to this place by its miles of unspoiled
beachand rock-cut art. The sculpture, here, is particularly interesting
because it shows scenes of day-to- day life, in contrast with the rest of
the state of TamilNadu, where the carvings generally depict gods and goddesses.
Mathura

Mathura is a city of templesand shrines abustle with the thousands of devotees
who come to visit the city of Lord Krishna. A splendid temple at the Katra
Keshav Dev marks the spot that is believed to be the Shri Krishna Janmasthan
- the birthplace of the Lord, by his devotees. Another beautiful shrine,
the Gita Mandir, locatedon the Mathura -Vrindavan Road has a fine image
of Shri Krishna in its sanctum.
Rameshwaram

Rameshwaram is an island situated in thegulf of manner at the very tip of
the Indian peninsula. A very important pilgrim centre of the Indians. Rameshwaram
is the place from whereLord Rama, built a bridge across the sea to rescue
his consort Sita, from her abductor, Ravana. This is also the place where
Rama worshipped Lord Shiva to cleanse away the sin of killing Ravana. Both
the Vaishnavites and Shaivites visit this pilgrimage which is known as the
Varanasi the south.
Ranakpur
Ranakpur in the state of Rajasthan is one of the five most important pilgrimage
sites of Jainism. It is home to an exceptionally beautiful temple complex
in the Aravali ranges and a must visit for the tourists coming to this region.
Rishikesh
Rishikesh is located in the northern part of Uttar Pradesh. It is 238 km
northeast of Delhi and 24 km north of Haridwar and spreads on the right
banks of the Ganges, at its confluence with the Chandrabhaga stream. It
is surrounded by hills on three sides and is perched at an altitude of 356
meters above sea level. The name Rishikesh is loosely applied to an association
of five distinct sections encompassing not only the town but also hamlets
and settlements on both sides of the river.
Tirupati

The ancient and sacred temple of Sri Venkateswara islocated on the seventh
peak, Venkatachala (Venkata Hill) of the Tirupati Hill, and lies on the
southernbanks of Sri Swami Pushkarini. It is by the Lord's presidency over
Venkatachala, that He has received the appellation, Venkateswara (Lord of
the Venkata Hill). He isalso called the Lord of the Seven Hills.
Vaishno Devi
The shrine of Mata VaishnoDevi is one of the mostvisited pilgrim sites in
India. Situated at a height of 5, 300 ft., the site is located inside a
cave in a hill. One of the most visited pilgrim sites in India, the shrine
of Mata Vaishno Devi is located in a cave, amidst the folds of the Trikuta
Bhagwati hill at a height of 5, 300 ft., in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Vrindavan
The town of Vrindavan is situated in the north Indian stateof UttarPradesh
around 151 km south of Delhi. The place is just 10 km off Mathura, the place
whereLord Krishna is said to have spent his childhood. Vrindavanis situated
on the New Delhi-Chennai and New Delhi-Mumbai main railway line. A meter-gauge
line connects Vrindavan to Mathura. There are quite a good number of passenger
trains plying between these two places.
Yamunotri 
The Garhwal Himalayas havebeen blessed with some of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage
sites and Yamunotri is one such. One of the Char Dhams according to Hindu
mythology, Yamunotri is the origin of the sacred river Yamuna. Famous for
its thermal springs and glaciers, it is one of the most important stopovers
on theitinerary of the Hindu pilgrim. According to an old legend, Asit Muni,
the revered sage, used to reside here.
