Cool away in the hill resort of Ranikhet. The sylvan surroundings of Ranikhet

The hill resort of Ranikhet stands at 1824 m above sea level. Ranikhet is
located in the northern Indian state of Uttaranchal. In the Kumaon Hills
the hill resort ofRanikhet is 59 km from Nainital and 50 km from Almora.
At a height of 1,829 metres, the ridge tops of Ranikhet are good vantage
points for panoramic vistas of Himalayan peaks including the Nanda Devi
group. From the luxuriantfruit orchards of Chaubatia, 10 km beyond the Mall,
you can get a sweeping view of the Himalayas, especially the peaks of Nanda
Devi, Trisul, Nanda Ghunti and Neelkanth. Ranikhet is the starting point
for a number of exciting treks into the Himalayas.
The fabled Jhula Devi templededicated to Goddess Shakti and an ancient shrine
dedicated to Rama lie on the outskirts of town. Bhaludam has an artificial
lake that is a picturesque picnic spot. Other places you should see are
the lush orchards and herbarium of Kherna, the complex of 55 ancient hill
templesof Dwarahat, and the shrine of Durga at Dunagiri.
And lastly, some good news forgolf lovers - Ranikhet has a splendidly maintained
9-hole golf course with a magnificent view of the mountain slopes. So put

Climate
All through the year, The summersare mild and last from April to June. The
winters are cold and carry on from November to February. The months of December
and January sees snow fall in the hill resort. Though through July and August
Ranikhet experiences heavy rainfalls, under the influence of southwestern
monsoons. Rains have been known tocause landslides and should therefore
be avoided.

The nearest airport happens to be at Pant Nagar (Nainital), at a distance
of 1119 km.
- Rail
The nearest railhead for Ranikhet is Kathgodam, at a distance of 84
km.
- Road
The excellent road network connects Ranikhet with other important cities.
The main bus station is located near the main tourist office adjacent
to the Sadar Bazaar area. The bus service from Ranikhet to Nainital,
Almora, Kathgodam, and Kausani is frequent.
